Hugh Taylor – CEO

“Going to the edges of our expertise to make schemes work is what excites me”

Ill-advisedly, arguably, Hugh set out to build Roadnight Taylor as an energy consultancy doing many things for many people. But he soon realised the firm did just one thing exceptionally well: enabling better grid connections, faster, cheaper and with less risk. He doubled down on that one thing, and on the brilliant people who made it a reality.

Hugh no longer advises clients. While he once sat on expert panels for six of the UK’s electricity networks, he now considers himself a relative layperson. Instead, he leads the business by exploring, synthesising and experimenting with the ideas of the world’s most respected business thinkers. From Jim Collins, Reed Hastings and Nancy Kline to Blair Enns, Seth Godin, Gary Hamel and many more, Hugh has shaped an idiosyncratic but high-performing, culture-led team.

Through coaching and mentoring, and via the firm’s Flywheel architecture, Hugh empowers the team to grow, to thrive, and to help our clients and industry as a whole deliver extraordinary outcomes.

He is responsible for the firm’s philosophy, its positioning, and for shaping its distinctive voice and market-shaping approach.

Hugh also hosts many of Roadnight Taylor’s widely viewed webinars and podcasts. As the only layperson on these sessions, he brings a naïve curiosity to complex grid challenges, drawing out insight to be shared freely through the firm’s Connectology® mission.

He is also a cold-plunging, dawn-running, nose-breathing, healthy-eating, non-drinking (mainly), meditator with an AI obsession. Don’t get him started…
