Trade press picks up on Roadnight Taylor’s industrial grid connection awareness research
The Energyst, Utility Week and other press have picked up on new research from Roadnight Taylor revealing a significant awareness gap among Britain’s industrial directors — which has serious consequences for growth, investment and net zero plans.
A survey of 200 director-level decision makers across Great Britain finds that those who have navigated grid connection challenges view the landscape very differently to those yet to encounter them. Directors anticipate grid connections taking 3.2 years on average, when the realistic timeframe for a major project is closer to eight. Among those who have already experienced delays, 34% say it stopped company growth altogether.
The research uncovers a clear divide: 28% of directors with direct experience identify connection timescales as a significant barrier to success, compared to just 8% of those without. Meanwhile 25% of directors are considering locating new plants overseas, and 72% believe the UK risks being left behind as the world enters a net zero based industrial age.
