Rachael Eynon – Specialist Connections Engineer
“Rare insider expertise in shaping the connections process that the whole industry now operates within”
Rachael brings six years’ experience spanning power systems, outage planning and grid connections. She spent her career at National Grid and NESO, giving her a rare insider understanding of how the reformed connections system was designed and why, insight that is invaluable when navigating it on behalf of clients.
Track record
Rachael joins from NESO, and previously National Grid ESO, where she spent over six years across a range of roles. Most recently as Senior Connections Design Lead, she wrote the inaugural Connections Network Design Methodology (CNDM), the foundational document setting out the process for reordering the existing connections queue under Connections Reform. She led working groups with Transmission Owners, worked with DESNZ on the impact of the Clean Power 2030 Action Plan on the reformed connections process, and delivered a webinar to over 500 industry attendees on the Protections introduced for well-progressed projects.
Earlier in her career, she managed the outage plan for the North West of England, and contributed to the Future System Operator Programme, helping design the Advisory function of NESO ahead of its establishment. She joined National Grid having completed the IET Power Academy scholarship, which included three summer placements across the business during her undergraduate studies.
She holds an MEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Distinction from the University of Strathclyde, including a year of international study at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Rachael is a former international netball player, having represented Scotland at the World Youth Netball Cup. She still plays, albeit with rather more injuries than in her international days.
