Kyle Murchie – Specialist Connections Engineer

Kyle joined Roadnight Taylor from SSEN Transmission, where he managed a multi-disciplinary engineering team within the Project Engineering department. In his 11 years in the energy industry, he has led teams of various types and sizes, with a focus on the value chain and holistic thinking. Kyle headed engineering development of projects individually expected to represent investments of up to £1 billion, while leading the grid aspects of projects up to the value of circa £400m through delivery and commissioning. He is an excellent asset to Roadnight Taylor’s influential team of elite connections specialists – the Connectologists®.

Since receiving his Masters in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from Strathclyde University, Kyle has led a number of grid engineering teams, most recently at SSEN Transmission. Notably, whilst at SSE Thermal, Kyle, led the connection of its 893MW Keadby 2 Power Station to the transmission network, with responsibility both for the coordination of the Principal Contractor on Grid Code related delivery activities, and for engagement with National Grid ESO.
Kyle has also held influential roles at, Electricity North West, UK Power Networks – and at TNEI Services, as Grid Team Lead – and has led a number of successful network innovation projects.

Out of the office Kyle has an active interest in EV motoring and motorsport, and both prepares and maintains his own competition race cars. He even holds driver achievements including the Northern Sports & Saloon Car Class Champion!
