
Alex Ikonic – Specialist Connections Engineer

Alex brings eight years navigating the interplay between technical, regulatory and commercial complexities of grid connections. Having worked both consultancy and developer sides, she aligns connection strategies with investment realities and has managed connections from initial feasibility through to energisation.
Track record
Alex joins from Ørsted’s Grid Team, where she led on site selection strategy for wind, solar and hybrid projects, managed grid connections for projects through early-stage development to delivery, and modelled connection costs including Use of System charges and CMP192 Securities. There, and previously at TNEI Services as Grid Connections Lead and Principal Consultant, she supported EREC G99 and BCA/BEGA/BELLA applications, conducted offer reviews, led post-offer negotiations, and performed technical due diligence for acquisitions.
She has been heavily involved in Connections Reform, and has sat on several working groups including CMP427, CMP434 & 435, and CMP448, and holds an MEng in Electrical Engineering with Renewable Energy from Edinburgh.
Off the clock
Outside work, Alex enjoys exploring the countryside through walking and hiking. She has a passion for baking and isn’t afraid to bring her professional life into the kitchen, making some legendary grid-themed creations!
