Philip Bale – Specialist Connections Engineer

From a senior role at Western Power Distribution (WPD), Philip is well known and highly respected among all the Distribution Network Operators’ teams. He brings Roadnight Taylor a highly experienced technical understanding of distribution networks, smart grids and battery storage integration.
Track record
After graduating with first class honours in Electrical Engineering, Philip joined WPD where he was responsible for pioneering solutions to connect increasing levels of renewable energy. Most recently, he was Primary System Design Team Manager for WPD, managing East Midlands 33kV and 132kV network developments, including all reinforcement projects and distributed generation connections.
Philip also sits on the National Energy System Operator’s GSR029 working group on the Review of Demand Connection Criteria to Align with EREC P2/7.
Off the clock
Philip is from West Country farming stock and has a young family. In his spare time, he lends his skills to helping disadvantaged communities in developing countries to overcome issues of pollution and access to clean heat and power.
