Kyle Murchie joins the Roadnight Taylor team
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kyle Murchie who joins from SSEN Transmission, where he was manager of a multi-disciplinary engineering team within the Project Engineering department.
Kyle has led teams engineering and implementing projects individually expected to represent investments of up to £1 billion, while leading the grid aspects of projects up to the value of circa £400m through delivery and commissioning.
He is an excellent asset to Roadnight Taylor’s influential team of elite connections specialists – the Connectologists®. He will be bringing his 11-years of network experience, where he has gained technical, commercial, regulatory and stakeholder knowledge, to overcome barriers to connecting mission-critical projects. He will be crucial in helping Roadnight Taylor’s clients get the best network solutions for their schemes, with the expectation that his impacts on individual projects will be valued in the tens and hundreds of £millions.
Kyle received a Masters in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from Strathclyde University, and since has led a number of grid engineering teams, most recently at SSEN Transmission. Notably, whilst at SSE Thermal, Kyle led the connection of its 893MW Keadby 2 Power Station to the transmission network, with responsibility both for the coordination of the Principal Contractor on Grid Code related delivery activities, and for engagement with National Grid ESO. He has also held influential roles at Electricity North West, UK Power Networks – and at TNEI Services, as Grid Team Lead – and has led a number of successful network innovation projects.
Kyle says, “I was very excited when I found out Roadnight Taylor could be an option for me, having worked with their team before and wanting very much to be involved within it. I hope to bring something different to the table with my varying experiences and new perspective to any barriers the teams seeks to overcome – both for the client and for the wider industry. Professional success to me is seeing end results and having a real impact on the projects we are involved in, and decarbonisation efforts for the UK as a whole.”
“I’m glad to have been welcomed from the offset and made to feel at home, and I already appreciate that Roadnight Taylor focus on the culture and environment within their team as well as the high level of expertise,” adds Kyle.
Hugh Taylor, CEO at Roadnight Taylor, said, “Our services have been in such demand that we recently took the difficult decision to reduce our client-base by 80%, not least to keep up with growing demand from our key partnerships. Having a fifth Connectologist®, who always had to be of Kyle’s calibre, will allow us to point an even greater level of expertise at our client’s challenges. It has been an extremely long process, but we are so glad we held out to find someone who is such a good fit. It was hard to be patient in having to pass on so many really strong applicants – and it has taken this extraordinary combination of expertise, experience, personality and compatibility for us to choose Kyle.”
